Managing Editor: Angela Giotto PhD, MPH, CSP
Angela Giotto currently serves as the Director of Research and Product Development at the Board of Certified Safety Professionals (BCSP). In that role, Dr. Giotto provides direction in the design, development, and deployment of BCSP’s learning programs and products. She also serves as the Managing Editor of the BCSP Foundation’s peer-reviewed journal, SHIFT: Global EHS Research to Practice.
Dr. Giotto’s career began in general industry with multiple environmental, health, and safety (EHS) roles in the food and beverage sector. She also has experience in railroad pooling and academia. As an adjunct professor, Dr. Giotto has taught EHS courses for Columbia Southern University and Keene State College.
Dr. Giotto holds a Bachelor of Science in Environmental, Health, and Safety Management from Ferris State University, a Master of Public Health in Environmental Sciences specializing in Industrial Hygiene and Hazardous Substances from the University of Michigan, and a PhD in Occupational Health and Safety from Capitol Technology University. She is also a Certified Safety Professional.

Bruce Lyon – BCSP Board of Directors
P.E., CSP, SMS, ARM, CHMM
Bruce Lyon is the vice president and director of risk management services with Hays Companies, Inc. He holds a bachelor’s degree in Industrial Safety and Occupational Safety Management/Fire Science from the University of Central Missouri (UCM).
Mr. Lyon has over 40 years of experience managing and directing risk services for a wide range of national and global organizations. He is the advisory board chair to UCM’s Safety Sciences Program, chair of US TAG 262 for ISO 31000, and vice-chair of the ANSI Z590.3 Prevention Through Design standard committee. He is the lead author of “Assessing and Managing Risk: An ERM Perspective”, lead author of “Risk Management Tools for Safety Professionals,” and co-author of “Risk Assessment: A Practical Guide to Assessing Operational Risk.”
Mr. Lyon received the CSP Award of Excellence from BCSP in 2018.
Tony Militello – BCSP Foundation Trustee
P.E., CSP, CQE
Tony Militello currently serves as executive-level EHS director for the Boeing Commercial Airplanes 737 Program, Delivery Operations, and Quality. In that role, he is responsible for workplace safety and environmental compliance and performance, including 737 MAX return to delivery, commercial flight lines, and paint and storage operations.
Mr. Militello recently completed a 25-year civil servant career, most recently serving as the director, occupational safety and health, and strategic advisor on the staff of the Secretary of the Navy. He was also the functional community leader for over 1,200 safety and occupational health professionals.
His career began in 1995 with Naval Facilities Engineering Command (NAVFAC), where he worked from 1995 until 2003 as a fire protection engineer in regional offices in Charleston, SC, Washington, D.C., and Naples, Italy.
Mr. Militello holds a Bachelor of Science and Master of Engineering in Fire Protection Engineering from the University of Maryland at College Park and a Master of Public Administration from American University. He is a director of the Society of Fire Protection Engineers Board of Directors and the vice-chair of the BCSP Foundation Board of Directors.
Mr. Militello is a licensed Professional Engineer (P.E.), Certified Safety Professional (CSP), and Certified Quality Engineer (CQE).
Chet Brandon – Industry Representative
CSP, CHMM
Ronald “Chet” Brandon is a highly experienced EHS executive with extensive practice in the process industries (chemical, metals, glass), manufacturing operations (automotive, aerospace, and electronics), and industrial services (occupational medicine, injury prevention, ergonomics, and EHS).
Mr. Brandon is in his 29th year of EHS service. He currently serves as the division director of global HSE at Special Metals. He has consistently driven EHS excellence in the protection of people, planet, and profitability for the globally recognized industrial organizations he has served.
Mr. Brandon also serves as the region seven vice president for the American Society of Safety Professionals (ASSP) and serves as the chair of the ASSP Government Affairs Committee. He is involved with the Board of Certified Safety Professionals (BCSP) as an examCORE lecturer and a frequent judge for various scholarship and grant selection committees with BCSP and the BCSP Foundation.
Mr. Brandon holds the Certified Safety Professional (CSP) and Certified Hazardous Materials Manager (CHMM) credentials. He has a bachelor’s degree in Business from Marshall University and a master’s degree in Safety Management Technology and Industrial/Organization Psychology from Marshall University. He is a published author and a leading voice in the advancement of the occupational health and safety field.
